| Hudson IPA/MSO - HEAL NY Phase 3 Health Information Technology (HIT) Grant Application
Hudson IPA, as the regions oldest and most successful IPA/MSO feel that we are strategically positioned to apply for the Phase 3 Health Information Technology (HIT) Grant. This is an opportunity, that if realized will benefit not only our organization but the community as well. New York State has allotted 3.1 million dollars in grant money (Heal NY Phase 3 HIT Grant) to promote clinical integration and healthcare information technology. Hudson IPA/MSO intends to be the hub for a community health information network. We have begun to work collaboratively with additional potential stakeholders including but not limited to eCast Corporation, Quest Laboratories, Vantage Point Healthcare Information Systems Inc., and SMA Informatics Inc. Our goal is to develop, implement and provide a Community Health Information Network that will integrate the community, Hudson MSO physician network (1400 independent practicing physicians), and our local hospitals. The eCast EMR (Electronic Medical Record) will be installed and shared by member practices, with terminals at each hospital’s facility running either a full or partial version of eCast so that they can pull up the medical records, images, and prescription information on any Hudson MSO patient who should come into their facility.
With physician and community support and facility collaboration, we anticipate this to be the most successful Regional Health Information Organization (RHIO) created to date. The eCast Corporation has an established business model with proven success and includes business plans to offset physician cost for EMR utilization – which clearly has been an obstacle to adoption of healthcare technology. While other potential RHIOs have spent years in developing an integrated network with much time an expense, this is a proven model that can be implemented both quickly and efficiently.
